ART OF THE WEEK (ARTE DE LA SEMANA)

Windsor, Canada Hockey Hall of Fame

It isn’t publicized; however, Windsor has an excellent Hockey Hall of Fame.  I was fortunate to be one of a select group of individuals given a tour of the museum last Saturday.  It was a rare treat and my video in no way captures the magnificence of this fine collection of hockey mementos collected over a life time.

EXTRAORDINARY PERSON OF THE WEEK

(PERSONA EXTRAORDINARIA DE LA SEMANA)

Who else, since it is close to Halloween, but:

Bela Lugosi (aka Count Dracula)

Béla Ferenc Dezső Blaskó (20 October 1882 – 16 August 1956), better known as Bela Lugosi, was a Hungarian-American actor, famous for portraying Count Dracula in the 1931 film and for his roles in various other horror films.

He had been playing small parts on the stage in his native Hungary before making his first film in 1917,… He had roles in several films in Weimar Germany before arriving in the United States as a seaman on a merchant ship.

In 1927, he appeared as Count Dracula in a Broadway adaptation of Bram Stoker’s novel. He later appeared in the classic 1931 film Dracula by Universal Pictures. Through the 1930s, he occupied an important niche in popular horror films, with their East European setting … (Source: Wikipedia)

  1. Hey again, I like your blog a lot, I wish I was extraordinary, I like extraordinary people… On my blog I talk about extraordinarily gay people whose sexual orientation did not stand in the way of their achievements

  2. Bill, I always enjoy your blog. You always have interesting or funny things to read. i did like the comments about the Civil War and steak sauce. Thanks for the video of Charlie Daniels, always loved that song. I do know who Bela Lugosi was. Didn’t realize Dracula was made in 1931, Wow it was old when we watched it. Lol Have fun Sunday in Clawson.

    • Thank you Darlene. I never noticed that about the steak sauce either until I saw that post. I think some of those old movies from the 1930s were scarier than many of those being made today.

  3. Bill, I missed a few weeks of your blogs so I’m commenting now. The trip to Peru looked amazing. I love the flute music. Did you go to Machu Picchu. It looks breathe taking. Mr. Michael no way can be 87 years old. I was so sorry to hear about Tom Petty also. Love his music. I forgot a few of the Beatles played in I won’t back down. Great joke about the ex! Lol

    • Yes, went to Machu Picchu; which was the main reason for the trip; but the floating islands in Lake Titicaca were amazing and that unique culture will soon be disappearing–glad I had a chance to visit these people who live on floating islands for the last 500 years.

Michael is totally amazing and an inspiration to everyone that it is possible to have and amazing and vigorous life well into your 80s–if one is willing to work at it

      Thanks for commenting Darlene

    • I made three hopefully thought provoking short films, but crashed and burned on my fourth. A lot of fun and an adventure, but all the challenges finally got the best of me. Congratulations to those who can stick with it.
