BOOK OF THE WEEK
I have seen all three movie versions of this book. All three differ from one another, so I finally decided to read the book.
It was most enjoyable reading. I can understand why it is said that Agatha Christie’s writings are only outsold by the Bible and William Shakespeare.
Murder On The Orient Express
By Agatha Christie
MOVIE OF THE WEEK
It isn’t only an action film, at times it is extremely funny.
Mission Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One (2023)
Add’l Info
With an estimated budget of $291 million, it is one of the most expensive films ever made, and the most expensive in the Mission Impossible franchise.
MUSIC OF THE WEEK
Stay (1960)
By Maurice Williams and the Zodiacs
Add’l Info
The song was written by Williams in 1953 when he was 15 years old. He had been trying to convince his date not to go home at 10 o’clock as she was supposed to. He lost the argument, but as he was to relate years later, “Like a flood, the words just came to me.”
In 1960, the song was put on a demo by Williams and his band, the Zodiacs, but it attracted no interest until a ten-year-old heard it and impressed the band members with her positive reaction to the tune
Herald Records became interested, but insisted that the song be re-recorded as the demo’s recording levels were too low. They also said that one line, “Let’s have another smoke” would have to be removed in order for the song to be played on commercial radio.

LEARNING TRAITS
Travel Is Educational
I wanted to see the Leaning Tower of Pisa
But you can see that on the train from Florence to Pisa
I wasn’t exactly traveling first class
When you travel as I did,
the sights you are permitted to see aren’t exactly as they
appear in the tour books.

We lost a great talent when Bennett passed. That house (shop?) makeover is delightful!

Yes, Tony Bennett was amazing. I saw him in person once. That house makeover had a nice message. As always, thank you so much Vera for commenting.

Happy Sunday, my friend! It’s so good to “see” you. I always enjoy your excellent posts filled with humor, truth, awareness, news,…just random excellence in my book! I didn’t realize the cost of Mission Impossible. Wow! And Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga together—melts my heart. That is what of my favorite specials on TV…ever. I’ve never read Murder on the Orient Express—that’s amazing! Like always, I appreciate all you share. My favorite of this post was the pictures of you traveling! I giggled at the views; but how impressive to see what you have! Take care, Bill! Your devoted friend, Karla

Thank you so much Karla for your kind comments. They motivate me to continue posting, so I really appreciate them. Tony Bennett just kept getting better and better with each passing year. And Lady Gaga is so impressive. I thought she was fantastic in “The House of Gucci”. As for going to Pisa, I was on a tight time schedule. If I was going to see the Tower, that was how I was going to have to travel. I was lucky to even get on the train. Once again, thank you Karla for commenting.

RIP Bennett, sad news.
But you’re not dead reckoning when you go to the movies. 😉
