12/17/23 – Marcus Aurelius as Your Life Coach

CURRENT EVENTS

Marcus Aurelius as Your Life Coach

BOOK OF THE WEEK

First off, this book is not brief; however, it is written in a style that is easy to read.

I believe regardless of your views, there is a good chance that you will find some of the author’s assessments and predictions disturbing.  Hopefully, your views can withstand learning about other views.

I really enjoyed reading the early part of the book about pre-history, but as time went on the author and I had to part ways.  Still, the book has many important things to say, so if you do try to tackle this book, you may want to read some of it and skim some of it.

Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind

This 2009 version of It’s A Wonderful Life, is my all time favorite. I hope you enjoy watching this 1 minute and 33 second film.

  1. The corporate Jesus, too true! I laughed at the one-week-diet joke. That’s also too true! This week the hubster and I watched Pocketful of Miracles with Bette Davis. Oh, she was a good actress! Peter Faulk has a role, too, and you can see his Columbo mannerisms. Ann-Margret is also in the movie, and she’s so young and charming. We loved it.

    • Thank you very much Sheila (I hope I got your name correct, if not, my sincere apologies). There is a lot of truth underlying good humor, glad you enjoyed the jokes. Ant another thank you for appreciating my Christmas decorating.

    • Thank you very much Wylene for commenting. Some of my friends at BCBS made that video for me, when I retired in 2009. I put it in the blog each year around this time. I thought Sapiens was an amazing book, although I don’t agree with some of it. I made it into the gym today (Mon. 12/18). If all goes well, I’ll be back Wednesday. Again thank you and hope I run into you before too long Wylene.
