We’re All Just Walking Each Other Home

When you allow someone to say in your presence that they want to kill the President, without you pushing back; you are not helping that person. And if you encourage that kind of talk, well shame on you.

I may be mistaken, but I view that level of “extreme” dissatisfaction has more to do with their dissatisfaction of their own life, than political positions that can be addressed every two years in national elections.

Do what you can to make them feel better about themselves.

Uncle Tony on health.

and then have to spend their wealth to regain their

health.”

Uncle Tony would likely add to the above quote the word trying, since once you lose your health, it isn’t always possible to regain it.

Do not under any circumstances, neglect your health for work or even for family. Uncle Tony said, “There is a reason the airlines tell you to put the oxygen mask on yourself first. It is because if you can’t help yourself, you aren’t going to be able to help anyone else.”

As for your team members, we all have seen team members who have failed to take care of their health and yet turn in amazing performances. Perhaps, had they maintained their health, they may have been able to accomplish still more or for a longer period in their lives. But that is beside the point; the important thing is to care about your team members and to encourage them to have healthy and long lives.

Speaking of health, Uncle Tony told me a mother once said she was worried about her daughter’s strange eating habits. She told him her daughter just lies in bed and only eats yeast and car wax. Uncle Tony said, “I would not worry too much about her. She will probably rise and shine.”

The name Artemis II comes from the Greek goddess of the Moon, Artemis, who is the twin sister of Apollo in mythology. NASA chose this name to represent the program’s connection to the original Apollo missions (1961–1972), while symbolizing a new era, specifically aiming to land the first woman on the Moon.

Book of the Week

As the weather becomes warmer,

thoughts turn to vacations.

Uncle Tony believed that vacations are an absolute must. Everyone needs to get out of the work environment for a period of time to recharge. Plus, often the time away from work may give a person a fresh perspective on how to do the work better upon their return.

A less positive reason why people should be required to take vacations is that it is fraud-prevention tool. People engaged in fraudulent activities typically need to be in the workplace to keep their activities from surfacing.

There are those who feel their vacation time is sacred. Nevertheless, you should still be reachable via email, text, or phone by whomever you left in charge. There is always the possibility of a business emergency or something of a critical personal nature that you need to know about.

The key is to leave someone in charge who can make decisions and whose judgment you trust. They will not intrude upon your vacation unless it is necessary.

When it comes to vacations, Uncle Tony said, “A journey of a thou-sand miles begins with a cash advance.”

Movie of the Week

This three season show first came out on ABC in September 2011, and is now available on Netflix.

I enjoyed all three seasons, which I just finished watching last week.
