BOOK OF THE WEEK

Okay, this is an old book (Copyright 1999), but it reads well and I am amazed to find the advice so current. The advice covers health, appearance, social relationships, your home, etc.; all designed to help you make the most of your later years.

The book is still available on Amazon. The paperback sells for $6.99. (For those of you concerned about such things, I do not make any money off the books I recommend, unless I wrote the book myself. And yes, I have actually read every book that I mention in this blog.)

MOVIE OF THE WEEK

I am now just starting Season 8 of Death in Paradise, but I feel the series is starting to run out of steam because of the loss of some key characters.

  1. Joan Rivers was one of my favorite comedians. I go for the brash, off-color gals like her, Sarah Silverman, Amy Schumer, Wanda Sykes. But the Joan R. and Betty White generation were great because although they were doing their own brand of locker room humor, they still managed a level of propriety which I never thought I’d appreciate as much as I do now, having gotten older, lol. I think it’s just all the in-your-face stuff nowadays, nonstop, not only in comedy, but TV, movies, even commercials, and especially in politics and world events with nobody having courtesy or sensitivity anymore. I’d be interested to see what Joan had to say. 🙂
