BOOK OF THE WEEK

This little book (Literally 4 1/4″ X 5″) of less than 100 pages is a treasury of good advice on how to live. If you have any interest in becoming a better person, you should check this book out.

Philosophy for Everyday Life

By Trevor Curnow

MOVIE OF THE WEEK

I really liked this film. It is a little chaotic, with a few loose ends; but a great film. I found most reviewers agree with me that is it the best of the four Bogart/Bacall films.

I thought the General was a terrific guy, if you are going to be old and decrepit, be like the General.

As for the younger sister, whom you will meet at the start of this film–Wow.

Also, it is wonderful to see the 1946 contemporary cars.

You are looking at history, when you see this very entertaining film.

The Big Sleep (1946)

MUSIC OF THE WEEK

Who Wrote The Book of Love (1958)

The Monotones

Lead singer Charles Patrick heard a Pepsodent toothpaste commercial with the line “you’ll wonder where the yellow went”/ when you brush your teeth with Pepsodent”, which inspired him to come up with, “I wonder, wonder, wonder who, who wrote the book of love”. He worked it up into a song with Davis and Malone. The “boom” part of the song was a result of a kid kicking a ball against the garage while they were rehearsing. It sounded good, so they added it to the song. (Source: Wikipedia)

ART OF THE WEEK

Statute of Don Quixote

When I was in Spain back in 2015, I believe this is a photo I took of a statute of Don Quixote. Of course, I may be mistaken.

  EXTRAORDINARY PEOPLE  OF THE WEEK

Judge Kathryn Mizelle

In a 59-page opinion on Monday, the US district judge Kathryn Mizelle of Tampa, Florida, overturned the federal requirement that people wear masks on planes and public transportation.

    • As always, thank you very much Priscilla for commenting. Big week coming up. I’ll go into the gym Monday to test my first and second lifts, weigh-in Saturday and do it Sunday. That’s the plan (smile)
