Still Preaching
I’m not bothered if people disagreed with what I include in this blog. I’m just tossing out ideas, and people can take what makes sense to them and forget the rest.
I know everyone is different and what may work for one person may not work for another.
On hindsight, I don’t agree with everything I posted on this blog over the years, nor should you. So please ignore any advice that you feel does not work you.
BOOK OF THE WEEK
Powerlifting Over 50
By Richard Schuller
You do not have to be weak when you are old, I know a number of world powerlifting champions, who are over 60 and 70, and a couple of ladies in their 80s.
Besides for exercise and eating advice, this book has some good solid advice about life in general.
MOVIE OF THE WEEK
I have no idea how many times I have seen this movie.
I just watched it again last week and found it was still hilarious.

PHYSICAL TRAITS
Weight Loss Drugs
In 2023, half the population of the USA is obese. We are told that there is a new miraculous way to lose fat. Take one of the prescription drugs that have been in use for many years to treat diabetes and they have a well established record of being safe with minimal side effects.
The problem isn’t as much losing weight as keeping it off. Study after study, has established that once dieters hit their goal, they put the weight right back on within a year.
The new weight loss drugs cause a person to lose weight by depressing their appetite. If a person stops taking the drugs, their appetite returns to what it was before and guess what?
The only way that diets and drugs can lead to long term weight loss is for the user to make permanent lifestyle changes. (Original Source Material: Richard Schuller weekly newsletter)

So much humor in today’s post. When I settled in on a way of eating, I did think of it as a lifestyle change instead of a diet so that it would be sustainable. Working pretty well several years now (but controversial, too, so that’s why I’m not saying what it is, but I bet you could guess).

Thank you very much Vera for commenting. As for eating, like everything else; there are always a multitude of views. I suspect that people’s genetics as well as their lifestyles vary so much from one another that there are no universal solutions. I’d say, it is obviously working for you; so no one should be critical of your approach.
