11/26/23 – A Holiday Toast

CURRENT EVENTS

A Holiday Toast

During the holidays, it is common for people to offer a toast. Perhaps, these will help you when you offer your own toast.

BOOK OF THE WEEK

No Excuses

By Brian Tracy

This is a good book to read, if you would like to change your life. However, if you aren’t a reader, well perhaps the following my help you:

There are four ways you can change your life:

You can do more of some things

You can do less of some things

You can start doing something you haven’t done before

You can stop doing some things

You don’t need to have been born under a lucky star, or with incredible wealth, or with terrific contacts and connections, or even special skills…but what you do need to succeed in any of your life goals is self-discipline.

Unfortunately, most people give in to the two worst enemies of success: they take the path of least resistance (in other words, they’re lazy) and/or they want immediate gratification (Source: Goodreads.com)

MOVIE OF THE WEEK

If you have an interest in Napoleon, you probably must see this film. I thought the acting was fine, but if you know much about the life of Napoleon, you may find this film a bit disappointing. There are just so many important things left out, but in a way Napoleon’s story is too great for just a single film.

If you know only  little of the life of Napoleon, you may find this film confusing.

Napoleon (2023)

The film primarily depicts the French leader’s rise to power as well as his relationship with Empress Joséphine, the film stars Joaquin Phoenix as Napoleon and Vanessa Kirby as Joséphine. (Source: Wikipedia)

    • Thank you Priscilla for commenting. I recalled last Christmas I watched a number of those Hallmark movies; but, they were all so absolutely predictable. Picard’s French Toast” caught me by surprise the first time I saw it.

  1. We loved the plot about the Hallmark movies. It’s that time of year and when we need to watch the same old story we tune in for a Hallmark movie. Thanks for all you do Bill. Happy holidays!

    • Good to hear from you Kate. Sounds like you folks have a bit of a tradition with the Hallmark movies. We have one of our own, each year we see the play, “A Christmas Carol’. It always gets me in the mood for Christmas
