05/15/17 – Roadside Assistance for Bicycles

CURRENT EVENTS (RECIENTES ACONTECIMIENTOS)

My insurance company has added bicycle service to its roadside assistance program at no extra cost.  This was certainly news to me and perhaps your roadside assistance company may be doing the same for you.

I sometimes wonder if the people who design or approve voice response units ever have to make use of them.

you are encouraging your life to reflect that brokenness .

BOOK OF THE WEEK (LIBRO DE LA SEMANA)

I found this book fun to read and full of good advice that you usually don’t hear.

Just Ride

by Grant Petersen

“A wonderfully sane, down-to-earth, and frequently funny guide to riding, maintaining, fixing and enjoying your bicycle.” (Source: Dave Eggers, New York Times Book Review)

MOVIES OF THE WEEK (PELÍCULAS DE LA SEMANA)

The White Princess

If you watched The White Queen, you are probably already watching The White Princess.  I think you will enjoy both series.

The White Princess is a British-American historical fiction television series for Starz, based on Philippa Gregory’s 2013 novel of the same name. It is a sequel to The White Queen, a 2013 BBC-produced miniseries adapting three of Gregory’s previous novels.

In the eight episode series, the marriage of Henry VII and Elizabeth of York effectively ends the Wars of the Roses by uniting houses of Lancaster and York. However, their mutual enmity and distrust—as well as the political plots of their mothers—threaten to tear both the marriage and the kingdom apart. (Source: Wikipedia)

MUSIC OF THE WEEK (MÚSICA DE LA SEMANA)

When it comes to royalty, there are many kings and even emperors,

but there is only one Duke of Earl.

  1. “The White Princess (is about) the marriage of Henry VII and Elizabeth of York effectively ends the Wars of the Roses by uniting houses of Lancaster and York.”

Thanks for telling me about this, I’ll have to check it out. Is Henry VII the father of Henry VIII?

Did you know that Game of Thrones is based on this history? House Lannister and House Stark?

    • Yes, the Henry the VIII that you are probably referring to is the son of Henry the VII. But if you are referring the the Henry who married the window next door, who had been married 7 times before, each one a Henry, than no Henry the VII is not his father.

For some reason, I never got into watch the Game of Thrones, perhaps because it is so popular. Probably at some point I will watch it. Here lately, I have been binge watching Death in Paradise. I never wanted to go to the Caribbean, and not after watching Death in Paradise, I want to go. It was like when I saw Vicky Christina Barcelona. Since seeing that film, I’ve been to Barcelona twice.

Thank you for commenting Georgia and for your interesting blog, which I read consistently.

  2. I agree with the social traits, about change. We do have a choice to change to be better, happier, and the past needs to stay in the past. Sounds like an interesting book Just Ride. The movie The White Princess. I would like that but I don’t get Starz channel. Would it be on Net Flex? Is that you in front of the ancient statue? I haven’t heard that Duke of Earl song in I don’t know how long. Thanks for the interesting and funny things you put on your blog. Always enjoy reading it.

    • Thank you for commenting Darlene. Yes, the White Princess, Season 1, is available on Netflix. I’m afraid I am now the ancient statue 🙂 Again, thank you for your very kind comments.

  3. In this post, you wrote, “We tend to receive from the world what we send out.” I wholeheartedly believe this! I think when we give out positive energy then we are more likely to receive it ♥
