PHYSICAL TRAITS (RASGOS FÍSICOS)

Honor Thy Temple (Honra Tu Templo)

If you’ve ever left a workout feeling on top of the world, you’re well aware that fitness can have some major mind-body perks. But now, a new study has found that one specific type of workout can have a big impact on depression.

The meta-analysis, which was published in JAMA Psychiatry, reviewed 33 studies and determined that strength training is linked with a significant decrease in symptoms of depression. Specifically, weight lifting and strength training helped improve low mood, a loss of interest in activities, and feelings of unworthiness.

These major benefits were true for people no matter how old they were, their health status, what type of strength training they did (Source: Runner’s World)

BOOK OF THE WEEK (LIBRO DE LA SEMANA)

These dark history books are easy to read, lots of pictures and you learn a lot.

A Dark History: Vikings

by Martin J. Dougherty

Marauders or explorers? Raiders or traders? We think we know who the Vikings were, but do we? A thousand years after their demise, traces of Viking civilization can be found as far apart as North America and the Middle East. They traded walruses with Inuits and sold slaves in Constantinople. They discovered America, settled in Newfoundland, and fought battles in Central Asia.
•Arranged thematically, Vikings examines Norse life from religion to raiding, from exploration to settlement to their legacy.
•Illustrated with more than 150 photographs and artworks, Vikings is an exciting history of a people who have long-held a place in popular imagination.

  1. Oh Bill… Now you’ve made me wish Prince Harry was from India :’)

I managed to escape all craziness involving the wedding, but got curious after a friend mentioned the dress, so I had to see. Can’t say I watched the whole TV report about the event, but I liked the dress. Meghan and Harry seemed in love and happy, I hope they didn’t get too sucked into all the crazy surrounding their marriage.

PS: LOVE this song from Whitney! ❤

  2. This blog is really a good one. Sorry I didn’t see it sooner. First of all the video of Prince Harry if he was Indian was really funny. Interesting about the Notradomus predictions. I’ll will have to check out the book about the Vikings. I agree about the proper way to apologize when we ar wrong. It’s amazing how some people can never admit when they are wrong let alone never apologize It was interesting to me about the wedding of Prince Harry and Megen Markle. I know a lot of Americans could care less about it. But I have been watching the Victoria on Masterpeice and have looked up history on her and her chlldren and also Queen Elizabeth 1. A lot of bad luck ran in Queen Victorias family. Love the pictures of Henry the 8ths vidoes in both. I’ve also seen the Henry the 8th on masterpiece, I can’t believe what went on back then and how mean and ruthless he was. The video was funny but I knew about his poor wives. Loved the joke about the Hippo and Zippo. Thanks for a very interesting and funny blog.

  3. Here is a bit of trivia on the Vikings. They raided the shores of Scotland in hopes of securing land. There was no land for sale in their own country so they had to travel the seas, rivers, and ocean in order to find land that they could call their own.. You were considered a “nobody” if you didn’t own land.

The Scots were wise and knew when the Vikings were coming to their land via the shore for they planted the “Thistle” (The country of \\Scotland’s flower which is really a weed.) It has a ball of purple with thorns all over the ball of the purple flower. The Scots were awakened from the shouts and cries of the invaders, that they were able to fight off Viking’s off before they got too far into the main land.
