BOOK OF THE WEEK
The Rest of Your Life is The Best of Your Life
By David Brown
This is one of the best self-help book I have ever read and I strongly encourage you to read this book.
I like how it starts out, saying he hopes people profit from this book, because if they profit, he will profit.
Here is a sample of some of the advice in the book: “I have long suspected that seeing a physician when you are feeling fit can be dangerous.”
Here is another piece of advice in the book that I enjoyed: “Psychoanalysis is not for all. It is not for the financially strapped.”
By the way, David Brown was the husband of the famous Helen Gurley Brown of Cosmopolitan fame.
MOVIE OF THE WEEK
Don’t expect to hear a lot of music by The Monkees, but it is an interesting story on film of this fun group. But, if you are simply looking for entertainment, hard to beat the early seasons of Seinfeld.
Daydream Believers: The Monkees’ Story (2000)

MUSIC OF THE WEEK

Daydream Believer (1967)
By The Monkees
Background
John Stewart wrote “Daydream Believer” as the third in a trilogy of songs about suburban life, recalling: “I remember going to bed thinking, ‘What a wasted day — all I’ve done is daydream.’ And from there I wrote the whole song.
The song was turned down by We Five and Spanky and Our Gang. While attending a party in Hollywood’s Laurel Canyon, producer Chip Douglas told Stewart that he was now producing the Monkees and asked if Stewart had any songs that might work for the group. Stewart offered “Daydream Believer.”
The single reached No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart in December 1967, remaining there for four weeks, and peaked at No. 5 on the UK Singles Chart. It was the Monkees’ third and last No. 1 hit in the U.S.

EXTRAORDINARY BAND OF THE WEEK
The Monkees
The Monkees were an American pop rock band formed in Los Angeles in the mid-1960s. Spurred by the success of the television show of the same name, the Monkees were one of the most successful bands of the 1960s. With three chart-topping songs (“Last Train to Clarksville”, “I’m a Believer”, and “Daydream Believer”). The band sold more than 75 million records worldwide.
Originally, the Monkees were a fictional band created for the NBC television sitcom The Monkees. Dolenz, Jones, Nesmith, and Tork were cast to portray members of a band in the sitcom.
With widespread allegations that the band members did not play their own instruments—followed by the cancellation of The Monkees, diminishing success on the charts, and waning popularity overall—band members began to leave the group. The Monkees officially broke up in 1970

I recall Zza Gabor
On a late night talk show saying she was a very good housekeeper.
The host, knowing Zza Zza divorce history, asked, “What do you mean, you are a very good housekeeper”.
Zza Zza replied, “Whenever I divorce a man, I keep his house.”

I loved the Monkees! I watched The Man Who Invented Christmas this week. It’s excellent. It’s about Charles Dickens and how he wrote A Christmas Carol.

I like the Dwayne Johnson quote best – I’ve been there and done it. It works.

Thank you for commenting. Yes, Dwayne’s quote would work; but, it seems a challenge for some.
