ART OF THE WEEK
Paris Street; Rainy Day
By Gustave Caillebotte
Caillebotte’s interest in photography is evident. The figures in the foreground appear “out of focus”, those in the mid-distance (the carriage and the pedestrians in the intersection) have sharp edges, while the features in the background become progressively indistinct. The severe cropping of some figures – particularly the man to the far right – further suggests the influence of photography.
It is currently owned by the Art Institute of Chicago. Art curator Gloria Groom described the work as “the great picture of urban life in the late 19th century.” (Source: Wikipedia)
This is one of my favorite paintings and brings back memories of when I was in Paris on a rainy day.

That owl on the park bench is a wise fellow! Haha, for years I thought the song lyrics were, “Hang on, SNOOPY, Snoopy hang on.”🐶
This week I saw The Love Punch from 2013. It stars Pierce Brosnan and Emma Thompson. Who knew those two could be so hilarious?!
